Chelsea Chen Organ Concert
An exciting organ concert displaying the talents of internationally-renowned artist, Chelsea Chen, will be occurring Friday, March 12, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Fresno and is open to the public.
The purpose of this concert is to pay tribute to the generous gifts given to the church’s pipe organ fund by the late Dorothy Hamilton, a long-time Fresno-area musician and music educator, and the late Lois Dalzell, a music supporter and member of First Pres.
The program will include favorites such as Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor” as well as Ms. Chen’s own “Super Mario Fantasia”, an amusing piece based on the video game of that name and sure to please the younger set. Joining Ms. Chen for a portion of the concert is violinist, Dr. Lewis Wong.
Chelsea Chen received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Juilliard and the Artist Diploma from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. She has performed in such national and international venues as New York’s Lincoln Center, Los Angeles’ Disney Hall, San Diego’s Spreckels Organ Pavilion, Hong Kong’s Cultural Centre, and Singapore’s Esplanade.
Dr. Lewis Wong has given recitals in venues such as New York’s Carnegie Recital Hall, Leipzig’s Mendelssohn-Haus, and Prague’s Bertramka W.A. Mozart Museum. He is currently Concertmaster of the Hudson Symphony Orchestra and leader of the Manhattan Chamber Soloists.
