A mixedmedia drawing project will be created over the course of three consecutive Saturday workshops 1:30 - 4:30pm February 6, 13 & 20. The finished pieces will be featured for ArtHop at FPC Thursday, March 3.

What We Will Be Making: Each artist will be creating their own individual piece using mixed media on paper. While each artist will be creating a work (or works) in their own style, the subject matter of local birds and flowers (natural elements) and how these interact with our current constructed environments (the citysetting we find ourselves in) will be important thematic connectors of all of the drawings created.

Mediums to Be Used:  Ink, watercolor, colored pencils, and pencil on paper

About the Artist: Jamie Meadows Michaelides is an artist and educator of Fresno. She received her Master of Fine Arts Degree in Visual Art from Azusa Pacific University in 2013. Her mediums have included oil painting, drawing, performance and video. In addition to her studio practice, she currently teaches art at the Fresno Art Museum and Fresno Pacific University.

Limited to 8 – 10 participants. This is a workshop for adults, though interested students will also be considered upon request. This is a series of three progressing workshops. Attendees should plan to attend all workshops as we will continue on the same project over three weeks.

It is recommended that participants have some painting and/or drawing background and are comfortable with the art making process. This will not be an introductory “how to draw” workshop or observational drawing course. Jamie will direct the workshop and guide participants as needed. Be ready to jump right in to the project and get started! The processing of the themes and concepts of this project will be an important component of the experience.

Art Hop Reception: The final project will be on display in The Commons for ArtHop and the entire month of March. We hope that workshop participants would attend and be available to talk about the project during ArtHop, 5-8pm Thursday, March 3.
