September's ArtHop showcases the quilted creations of Joanie Martin

A Year in the Life of a Quilter: Cotton | Silk | Wool

Experience this exhibit which marks Joanie's 15th year of quilting and captures a year's worth of artistic expression inspired by quilters from the Houston International Quilt Show to silk purveyors in Cambodia & Thailand.
On display:
• Two pieces created in transit to Asia & Europe
• Work created as a block a day, 365-day challenge
• Three portrait quilts inspired by class led by LA quilt artist Ramsess

About the Artist

Joanie Martin' s love of fabric and color began as a teenager making her own clothes. But at the age of 50 she began to explore the art of quilting. If you were to visit the home of Joanie and Marty you would find a rotating quilt gallery on the walls as well as the beds!

About ArtHop

ArtHop is a program of the Fresno Arts Council.  It happens Downtown Fresno on the 1st Thursday of every month.  We are an official ArtHop Venue, with changing art exhibits in The Commons.

We do this to engage with our community - to intersect with people where they like to hang out. Please consider joining this effort. Just participating in ArtHop downtown could be missional! Be a host/greeter in The Commons or on the sidewalk for either the 5-6:30 or 6:30-8 shift. We are looking for a few good men for the later shift each month. Contact Terry Jaurena.

Join us for ArtHop at TheCommons @ FPC!
