ArtHop April

Thursday, April 7, 2016 - 5:00pm-8:00pm (ended)

ArtHop is a program of the Fresno Arts Council. It happens Downtown Fresno on the 1st Thursday of every month. We are an official ArtHop Venue, with changing art exhibits in The Commons.  Thursday, April 7, 2016 we feature the work of 6-8 Grade Students from Kepler Neighborhood School along with Poetry, Hip-Hop and Swing Dance performances.

Sixth Grade students have been studying the Ancient art of Calligraphy and have embellished their names with traditional Chinese symbolism. Some have incorporated poetry within the calligraphy. The study of medieval global cultures of the Seventh Grade students has included traditional art practices from Africa and Asia. They will display pottery and printmaking pieces accompanied with traditional haiku poetry. Eighth Grade students will display black and white drawings of the Industrial Revolution and immigration era scenes in American history.

Performances are scheduled for 5:15pm Poetry Students; 5:30pm Hip-hop Dance Students; 5:45pm Swing Dance Students; 6:00pm Poetry Students. (Dance performances will be on our patio & poetry reading in The Commons exhibit area.)

It's going to be fun here at M & Stanislaus - please join us!

We do this to engage with our community - to intersect with people where they like to hang out. Please consider joining this effort. Just participating in ArtHop downtown could be missional! Be a host/greeter in The Commons or on the sidewalk for either the 5-6:30 or 6:30-8 shift. We are looking for a few good men for the later shift each month.
