God Hears Our Prayers

We are a praying church and have a team of people working diligently to pray for the needs of our congregation, community and world. If you would like to have our team praying for particular needs, please fill-out the form with your information and requests.

Your message will go to a leader of our prayer team. It will be kept private within the membership of the prayer team and will not be made public to the entire congregation. Depending on the nature of the request, it could be brought to the attention of one of our pastors.

If your request requires only individual attention, please make an appointment with one of our pastors at 559-485-6460.

College

Sunday Morning College and Career Gathering: We are starting a new meeting time with a new focus on Sunday, January 10th in the “Common Grounds” Coffee Room at the Church EVERY Sunday morning from 9:40am-10:45am.  We will be studying and discussing God’s truth as reflected through His Word in conjunction with two exciting books.  Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis and Reason for God by Timothy J. Keller.  Have you ever thought about how you would answer these questions?  “How could there be just one true religion?”  “How could a good God allow suffering?”  Isn’t Christianity just a straitjacket?”  Isn’t the Church responsible for tons of injustice?”  How can a loving God send people to hell?”  Hasn’t science disproved Christianity?”  “You can’t take the Bible seriously, can you?”

C.S. Lewis was born in 1898 and brought up in a very strict, religious household. While he was quite young, his mother died of cancer but the “stiff upper lip” in favor at the time meant he wasn’t allowed to grieve. He became an Oxford don and led a sheltered life. He seriously questioned his religious beliefs and finally left the church.  When an American fan, Joy Gresham, came to visit him, they found they enjoyed each others company and she stayed. She was dying of cancer and he was afraid to express his emotions until she convinced him that it was OK to “allow” himself to love her even though it would shortly lead to heartbreak when she died. This was a great writer who dared to examine his emotions and beliefs and record them for the rest of us. Most famous for his children’s book (The Narnian Chronicles) he also wrote a very interesting Science Fiction Trilogy and some of the most intriguing Christian literature. He finally resolved his crisis of faith after tearing apart and fully examining the Christian (and other) religion and re-embraced Christianity.

Called a “C.S. Lewis for the 21st century” by Newsweek, Dr. Timothy Keller is founder and pastor of New York’s Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. Over the past 20 years, the church has grown to five services at three sites, with a weekly attendance of over 5,000. Named one of the Top 25 Most Influential Churches in America, Keller’s ministry is notable not only for winning over New Yorkers who are skeptical to faith, but also for its missional approach, planting more than 100 churches though the Redeemer Church Planting Center. He is the New York Times bestselling author of The Reason for God, The Prodigal God, and Counterfeit Gods.  You can go to his church website Redeemer.com and download 150 sermons for free on a variety of topics.  Look at the first category of sermons called “Discovery” to get a sense of the direction of our new course.
