God Hears Our Prayers

We are a praying church and have a team of people working diligently to pray for the needs of our congregation, community and world. If you would like to have our team praying for particular needs, please fill-out the form with your information and requests.

Your message will go to a leader of our prayer team. It will be kept private within the membership of the prayer team and will not be made public to the entire congregation. Depending on the nature of the request, it could be brought to the attention of one of our pastors.

If your request requires only individual attention, please make an appointment with one of our pastors at 559-485-6460.

Mission

We believe growing in Christ involves finding your place in the grand adventure of seeing the gospel planted, taking root and growing in every people group God created. Taking this gospel across social, ethnic, religious, linguistic and sometimes even geographic barriers is the task Christ gave his first disciples. Since the task is not completed, we seek to do our part in our time. Revelation 7:9-10 gives us a glimpse of what it will be like when the job is done!

After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.”

Until that great day, followers of Christ have a collective job to do and it will mean that each of us needs to be seeking to do our part. Your part might be to go, it might be to give, it might to be pray, to help send or to welcome. It might be some combination of all of these throughout your life in Christ.

Through our church mission budget we support a number of people and a few organizations whose part is to GO. We call them Mission Partners. Some partners are crossing those barriers right here in Fresno. Some mission partners work in difficult region we call the 10/40 Window. Still others are scattered about and we call them Global Mission Partners.  (Just click on the links to meet those people).

A great way to grow in mission is to get involved in some activity that crosses one of those social, ethnic, linguistic or geographical barriers.  You’ll regularly find posting of one-time projects, some monthly opportunities and even some weekly opportunities here on our website.   We also send teams out for short term mission experiences from time to time. Contact us for information.

Another way to grow in mission is to pray regularly for any of our mission partners or a part of the world. Pick up a prayer update any Sunday at church or download a copy now  (Current Partner Prayer Requests).  You might want to pray for a certain part of the world or group of people. There are lots of prayer guides and resources available if you want to pray for the 10/40 Window Specifically, Urban Issues, Muslims during Ramadan.   You’ll find links here in the near future to these resources.

Lastly, we invite you to join our church’s mission ministry team if you want to be involved more fully in mission efforts at First Presbyterian Church.  We currently meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at various Mission Team Member’s homes.  Contact Terry Jaurena (tjaurena@fpcfresno.org) for meeting details.
