Choir is a great entry point for singers seeking to get involved and is open to singers high school age through adult. Lend your voice, talents and time to bless our church and community through song. Rehearsals are 9:40 - 10:50 in the Music Room, September thru May.
We sing music of many styles, learn to improve our singing abilities and we are a warm community of believers who pray for one another regularly. New singers are welcome to join us, and non-church members are welcome. Choose from several short sessions:
- Fall Choir (September 10 - October) This will include a special Reformation celebration Oct. 29.
- Christmas Choir (November 5-December)
Joyful Ringers share Christ through music at First Presbyterian Church and in community events. We learn bell ringing techniques and music fundamentals. The ensemble currently is on fall break. It generally rehearses Wednesdays from 4:30 - 6:00 pm in the Sanctuary. For more information call Carol Dice (559-226-5174).
Brass Ensemble consists of interested trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, euphonium, and tuba players. The players in the ensemble come from the church membership, as well as from the local musical community. We rehearse from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. each Sunday morning in the Music Room. We welcome any interested brass players to join us! The brass are directed by Roger Ambriz (209-409-4772). Fall rehearsals begin September 10th.
Kids Praise Singers is for children in grades K-3. They meet on Sunday mornings from approximately 11:15 - 12:15 in the Hub. Kids Praise sings in church 2-3 times a year and often participates in the children's musical with Full Court Pres. Children begin 2nd service with their parents and are excused at the same time as Kids Alive early in the service. Fall rehearsals begin September 10th. Watch for the slide! Full Court Pres is for children in grades 4-6. They meet on Sunday mornings from approximately 11:15 - 12:15 in Room 206. Our goal is to worship God through our songs. We emphasize working as a group, proper tone production, and some basic music and rhythm skills. Full Court Pres sings in church 4-5 times a year, presents a musical annually and also performs occasionally at local nursing homes. Full Court Pres is directed by David White (559-347-1415). Fall rehearsals begin September 10th.
For both music groups children begin 2nd service with their parents and are excused at the same time as Kids Alive early in the service.
