Dear First Pres,

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love,” (Galatians 5:13). This was the primary verse for our Scripture reading this past Sunday in worship. We are called to use our Christian freedom to serve one another in love.

Greetings FPC Family!

My name is Jon Jo and I’m your new Minister of Disciple Making. I’m married to my beautiful wife Karen and our son Micah who just turned one year old in January. Our family sincerely thanks you for the warm welcome we’ve received.

Here’s my story:

Dear First Pres,

Wow! It truly was a Super Sunday. No, I’m not talking about the football game, I’m talking about our fantastic combined worship service and Annual Meeting. If you missed the meeting (or the service) I encourage you to watch or listen to the recordings. You can find recordings of both the meeting and worship service on our YouTube channel or you can listen to the sermon on our FPC Fresno Sermons podcast.

Dear First Pres,

A few weeks ago we included an insert in the bulletin called Get Plugged In. It was an invitation for you to find a way to plug in and serve with your church family. As I mentioned in the service, we have some real needs in the life of our congregation for people to step up and in for service. The Get Plugged In sheet wasn’t just a wish list, it was full of actual and existing needs. Did you take some time to pray about it?

Dear First Pres,

Welcome to February. This is going to be a big month for FPC. Let me share a few important updates with you.

Super Sunday

Dear First Pres,

Did you know that in 2022 we added 44 new members to our church?!? It’s one of the many fun facts that’s included in our church’s 2022 Annual Report. Scroll down to download a digital copy of the report.

Dear First Pres,

Dear First Pres,

Dear First Pres,

The kids are home. The house is full. The nights are late. And, I love it.

Yet, in the midst of all the activity, it’s easy to lose focus on why the kids are home and why the to-do list is so long. As Diane confessed on Sunday, in this season when we’re called to focus on the Advent of Jesus many of us have minds full of “check lists, shopping lists and groceries lists.”

Dear First Pres,

Never underestimate the power of a simple, heartfelt invitation.
