Dear First Pres,

I hope you were in worship on Sunday.  It was the scene of one of my favorite moments in the life of the Church. We received 10 young people into membership of our church.  They took the membership vows, proclaiming their faith in Christ and committing themselves to be faithful covenant partners with FPC Fresno. Many of them were baptized; those who were already baptized were anointed. Then we surrounded them with a great cloud of witnesses to lift them up in prayer. In the first service they were surrounded by the Elders of our church; in the second service they were surrounded by the people who specifically volunteered in ministries like AWANA, Sunday school, youth group, and beyond to help these young people come to this decision. I can hardly keep my eyes dry when I see the church surrounding our young people; it is such a picture of what I believe the church is supposed to be.

That's why I am so excited about the special seminar we are hosting on this Sunday afternoon: Generation 2 Generation. Jim Burns is a very well-known youth ministry expert who speaks all around the country about passing on our faith in Christ to the next generation. I am confident that his presentation, from 3 - 5:30 on Sunday afternoon, will be totally worth your time. I hope every single one of you will consider attending this important event. The seminar is not only for our young parents. The seminar is for the whole church. It takes all of us to help pass on the good news of the Gospel to the next generation, and this seminar will help us in that all-important work.

  Blessings,

P.S. Don't forget that I'll be leading a Leadership Matters class during the Education Hour about the important work of communication. The more I review the material, the more I'm convinced that everyone needs to hear this stuff.
