Dear First Pres,

I walked over to the Fulton Mall for lunch today. Every Thursday there are several food trucks that show up to enhance the cuisine options. It’s always a hopping environment. Today I saw several FPCers enjoying the urban fare. But I noticed something as I walked to and from lunch: it’s getting hot!  Summer is coming.

I know this isn’t news to you, but it does raise some important news for FPC Fresno. Let me give it to you in bullet point form.

  • All Church Picnic: On June 14 we’re having an awesome all church picnic at Woodward Park starting at 5 p.m. Mark your calendars now, and be listening in May for details.
  • Summer Worship Schedule: June 21 (Father’s Day) through August 16 we will enjoy our summer worship schedule. That means we will have one worship service every Sunday morning at 9:30. Why? To live into our core value of transformational relationship with the whole church.
  • Mission Trips: This summer we are sending a team to Albania and a team to Dominican Republic. Yahoo! You can support these trips by signing up for the Mother’s Day Brunch (see details below).
  • Summer Interns: We have five young people serving in Children’s and Youth ministry this summer as ministry interns. We’ll introduce them to you in June.
  • Summer Sunday School: We will not have our normal education hour on Sundays from June 21 through August 16. However, we do need 6 volunteers every Sunday (that’s 54 slots for the summer) to take care of our littlest ones. Would you be willing to fill one or more of those slots? Email Margie Nunez, Children’s Ministry Director (mnunez@fpcfresno.org) to volunteer.
  • Sanctuary Heating & Cooling: As you may have noticed in the Bulletin, the upgrade of our sanctuary heating and cooling system was delayed. We’re now starting at the beginning of June. Be praying for temperate weather on those first few Sundays. If it gets too hot, we’ll temporarily move worship services to the Fellowship Hall.

Here’s the bottom line: the summer is going to be great! Be looking for additional details on these and other summer activities in the weeks to come.

Blessings,
