Dear First Pres,

Thanks to everyone for making it such a great start to our normal Sunday morning schedule. I bet there were only a few of you who forgot that worship was back to two services at 8:30 and 11. Both worship services seemed full of life and energy. And the education hour was lively as well. I loved seeing the Link Crew helping folks find their way to their appropriate spots; I loved seeing our youth (Jr. High & High School) meeting on the main campus; I loved seeing adults make their way to the Partner Spotlight down at the Corner; I loved seeing the way a central check-in for our kids builds community and security; and I loved seeing so many get registered for WednesdayNights@FPC. It was a great morning.

One of the questions we asked on the WednesdayNights@FPC registration form was about your intentions for dinner during our 10 week run. We did that so we can start estimating how many people will need food. But don't let that question lead you to believe that dinner is simply a convenient add-on to the rest of the evening ministries. We believe that eating together on those Wednesday nights is a very important ingredient in the whole experience. Since the earliest days of the Church, time together at table was a critical part of authentic Christian community. I hope you'll consider these 10 weekly meals as another great reason to be part of this discipleship initiative. The dinners will be available to all (served from 5:30 - 6:10 p.m.) with a $5 per individual & $15 per family suggested donation.

Finally, on Sunday we reminded you about the regular Friday morning all-church prayer time. It happens at 6:30 - 7:15 a.m. in The Commons. We were reminded the week before, from the great stories that came out of our Sneakers Sunday effort to pray on school campuses all over the city, that God is in the business of listening to, answering, and moving through our prayers. So, if you can, I hope you will join me in prayer for those 45 minutes each week.

God is able to do immeasurably more than we can possibly ask or imagine. Therefore, let us offer to Him what we have, and then get out of the way to see what He does with it.

Blessings,

P.S. This Sunday I'm going to be preaching about one of the most important topics in our culture right now, sex. There is so much confusion about this in our world, and in the Church. This sermon won't answer every question, but it will highlight some of the great wisdom in the Proverbs about this area of our lives. If you have a young family and are worried about your kids hearing the message, fret not. Our Children's Ministry is ready to receive extra kids during the Kid's Alive program; look for an email from Margie Nunez that gives the important details.
