Dear First Pres,

Have you had your eyes open for a person of peace this week? Remember, a person of peace (based on Luke 10) is someone who welcomes you and is open to your faith in Christ. Jesus told the 72 (again, in Luke 10) that they should go and look for the person of peace. When they found that person, they were to focus on building that relationship rather than bouncing around from house to house.  The person of peace would then become their connection with the rest of the community to announce the good news of the Kingdom.

It’s a model that we see repeated in the Scriptures.  Look again at Jesus’ interaction with Zacchaeus (Luke 19), Levi (Luke 5), and the woman at the well (John 4). Look at the way God grew the church in Acts as the disciples interacted with the Ethiopian (Acts 8), Cornelius (Acts 10), and Lydia (Acts 16). The harvest is plentiful, and the way that we connect with God’s harvest is to live our everyday life looking for people of peace with a readiness to share our lives and witness. So, church, be on the lookout.

We’re almost done with the Gospel Resolutions sermon series in which we’ve been learning what it means to live everyday life with Gospel intentionality.  I’d love to hear how the Lord has been using this series in your everyday life. Please send me an email or write a note; we need to learn from each other’s everyday life experiences.

Blessings,

P.S. The season of Lent is starting next week. It’s a season for reflection, repentance, and renewal in Christ as we prepare to celebrate His resurrection. I hope that you will join us on Wednesday, Feb. 18 for the Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m.
