Dear First Pres,

In what ways has God made His presence known to you this week? In what ways have you been impacted by your time in the Scriptures this week? In what ways do you need the Holy Spirit’s help this week? These are the three questions I hope you will be asking your Discipleship Partner(s) each week during Lent. I believe questions like these can be transformational. They can help us be more aware of the way that God is working in our lives. They can help us be more intentional about our spiritual disciplines. And, when we listen to our friends give their answers to them, they can help us know how we can encourage one another.

So, have you found your Discipleship Partner yet?  If yes, way to go!  If not, it’s not too late. Make a list of church folks who live in your neck of the woods and aren’t already your best friend. Ask God to show you who you should ask. Then, ask away. If the person says, “No, thank you,” ask someone else. You can do it! And, you’ll be better for it; our church will be better for it, too. That’s why I’m praying that hundreds of us follow this Lenten call.

Speaking of prayer, I want to remind you about our Thursday morning prayer meeting. We’re meeting in The Commons from 6:30 – 7:15 a.m. on Thursdays to pray for God to do a mighty work in and through us this Lenten season. Please join us in the weeks ahead.

Blessings,

P.S. On Sunday night Diane and I had dinner with two families that first got to know each other in the Membership Class; they’ve been friends in the church ever since. Our next Membership Class is starting soon (March 15) during the Education Hour. If you’ve never joined the church, I hope you’ll come check it out. Who knows what new friends you might meet there?
