Dear First Pres,

Once again, it was a powerful annual meeting. The testimonies of God’s work among us, the acknowledgment of outstanding service in our congregation, the announcement of 2020 plans, and the prayer together in the pews … all of it was wonderful. But perhaps the most powerful for me was when you took time to consider an action that you could take in 2020 that would help us be a church growing deep and wide. Your faith in the Gospel, your relationship with God, your obedience, your daily activities, your service, your work, your outreach, your love for others, your worship is what truly defines the health of our church. So we took time together to consider an action that you could take in 2020 that would increase your spiritual health and ours - to help us grow deep and wide together.
What does it mean to be a healthy church growing deep and wide? Deep means that we’re growing in our relational depth with God. Deep means a deeper love for Christ, deeper intimacy with Christ, a deeper submission to the Holy Spirit. Wide means that we’re reaching new people. Wide means that our impact is growing. Wide means that we’re living as disciple-makers. Wide means that new believers are being added regularly to our church. But none of that can reach its full potential without you.
So, for all of you that filled out a card on Sunday with your pledge to help us be a vibrant community of faith growing deep and wide in Christ, thank you! I pray that you are already experiencing something new in Christ as you take the first steps of obedience this week.
If you missed the meeting, I really encourage you to watch the recorded version of the meeting. You can find it HERE. And I hope that you’ll pick up a personal pledge card in the Sanctuary Entry so that you can be part of the work that God stirred up at our meeting.
Beloved, God is at work among us. He has a wonderful plan for our congregation. May we truly engage together in seeking that plan together.

Blessings,
Jeremy
