Dear First Pres,

Today is the first of four very special days in the life of the church: Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Resurrection Sunday. I encourage you to take some special time each day in prayer and worship to focus your heart on the incredibly good news of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. One of the special ways you can do that is by participating with your church family in worship and prayer.

Maundy Thursday: Tonight we celebrate the Lord’s Supper in worship as we remember the way Jesus gathered with His disciples in the upper room and showed them the full extent of His love.  The service starts at 7.

Good Friday: (1) Morning Prayer – I invite you to join me in a special time of prayer at 6:30 a.m. in the Commons. Let’s pray together for our city, for our weekend services, for the courage to invite others, for people to come to faith in Christ, and for God’s wholeness to be made manifest. We’ll be done by 7:15. (2) Good Friday Worship Service – Starting at 12:10 p.m., we will share in a brief worship service with other churches from our downtown area to remember the cross. I encourage you to join us as we live out our core value of transformational partnership as we share in the gospel ministry with these other churches.

Holy Saturday: Men’s Prayer Gathering at 7:30.  The timing of this monthly prayer gathering couldn’t be better. Men, let’s pray for God to work in powerful ways in and through our church.

Resurrection Sunday: We have two worship services, 9:30 and 11.  I suspect that the 9:30 service will be the most crowded, so if you have the flexibility, please consider coming at 11 to make more room for others.  Also, remember that every member of FPC Fresno is considered a host on Easter.

It’s going to be a wonderful four days. In the midst of all the hard stuff happening in our world and in our city, we (I, at least) need to be reminded of the power of the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ to make all things new. Let’s worship Him.

Blessings,
