Dear First Pres,

I've been thinking this week about the Discipleship Partners who have been meeting and talking during this Lenten season. Remember, many of us took up the invitation to find one or two other people with whom we would connect weekly for the sake of growing in Christ. I am so grateful that so many of you took up this Lenten discipline. I've been praying that God uses it to catalyze something new in you. So, how's it going?  Have you been praying for one another? How has God used these particular questions to minister to you? (Check out the website to see the questions again.) I haven't yet met with my Discipleship Partner this week, but God has been using our meetings to encourage each of us. What about you?  I'd love to hear from you about how it's going; please send me an email.

We had a small group gathered for a wonderful time of prayer this morning. We've been meeting in the Commons on Thursday mornings from 6:30 - 7:15 to pray for our church, our city, and our world. Our next gathering will be on Maundy Thursday morning.  Would you join us on that morning for a special time of prayer focused on our Holy Week services? I can hardly imagine a better way to lead into the Easter weekend than to gather with the saints and seek the Lord together.  I know it's early; I know it's out of the way for many of you; but it's worth it. God works in us as we pray; He inhabits the praises of His people. I hope you'll be there to be a part of it.  If you can't physically be here, then I invite you to join us in praying wherever you are from 6:30 - 7:15 on Thursday morning.  Let us draw near to God, surrender our wills to His, and invite Him to move in powerful ways among us for the sake of His Kingdom.

This weekend is Palm Sunday. It's the day we remember Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem during the last week of His life.  We're often mindful of the shouts of praise that came from the crowd that day, but this week I'd love for you to consider what Jesus was doing. He was entering Jerusalem on a donkey; He was declaring Himself the humble Messiah; and He was willingly walking right into a deathtrap. What amazing obedience; what amazing love!  May we move towards Him with the same intentionality that He moved towards the cross.

Blessings,
