Dear First Pres,
Wasn't it an encouraging sight to see all those new members of the church standing in front of the congregation on Sunday morning? They went from one side of the platform to the other. Praise God! He is doing good things among us. You'll notice some pictures and names below of our new members. Please do your part to welcome them into the life and ministry of our congregation.
This Sunday we celebrate the very first new members class of the Church. During the Pentecost celebration described in Acts 2, the Holy Spirit came in power, Peter took his place and preached a powerful Gospel message, and then something happened. Verse 41: "Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day."
This is the work that the Holy Spirit continues to do, and will continue to do until Jesus returns in ultimate victory. The Holy Spirit continues to open the hearts and minds of people like you and me so that we can see the truth of the Gospel. And this Sunday we celebrate that.
One of the ways that we help to celebrate this day in the life of our church year (the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is reason to celebrate) is with color. Just like the browning foothills remind us that summer is coming, colors in our worship remind us of the season of our worship. The color for Pentecost, representing the appearance of fire in Acts 2, is red. So you can expect some red in the sanctuary on Sunday, and I hope you will also consider wearing red as part of the celebration. It's going to be a glorious morning!

Blessings,
Jeremy
