Dear First Pres,

It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with you.  Delma Rodriguez, the wife of our beloved custodian Freddie, passed away yesterday and ended her long and hard battle with cancer. We prayed hard that God would heal Delma. Even though God didn't heal her in the way we had hoped, we do have perfect hope that she is now made whole with her Lord and Savior, Jesus. I know that many of you have been praying for and caring for this family during this difficult season. I now invite you to continue to pray for Freddie and his family as they grieve Delma's death. Her memorial service will be at Yost and Webb Funeral Home (1002 T St.) onWednesday, October 29 at 11:00 a.m.

This Sunday we will take time to remember the members of our church who also have gone to be with Jesus in glory as part of our participation in All Saints' Day. We remember All Saints' Day (traditionally celebrated on November 1) along with Reformation Sunday (always the last Sunday in October).  Reformation Sunday is when we give thanks to God for the courageous stand for the Gospel taken in the Church some 500 years ago. It's a day, you might remember, that you are invited to wear tartan in honor of our Presbyterian roots in Scotland. I believe it will be a poignant time of worship.

Both of these special church days remind us that we a part of something so much more that we experience in the present. We are humbly connected to a tumultuous, important past and a glorious, defining future. May God use us today to bring His future reality.

 Blessings,
