Dear First Pres,

It’s now officially been six months since this pandemic season began for us as a congregation. I remember reading Roger Taylor’s (our unofficial church historian) description of how the new pastor in 1919 wasn’t able to see the congregation for six months. I thought, “Wow, good thing we’ll be through this thing in a month or so.” I was so wrong. This has been tough, for sure. Yet, we’ve learned so much.

In March we moved all ministry to Level 1, which (for us) meant that we were online only for everything. Then, in July, we moved to Level 2 which meant we were able to gather in small groups while maintaining proper precautions. Today, I’m excited to announce the launch of Level 3 starting this Sunday, September 27!

What is Level 3? Level 3 means that in addition to small groups meeting indoors (like we did in Level 2), we can now gather outdoors in large groups while maintaining safety protocols. So, for example, we have plans for Women’s Conference, Marriage Night, and Men’s ministry in October.  These will be outdoors. Also, in Level 3, our Rooted, Ignite, and Kingdom Kids groups can gather outdoors without having to worry about keeping it to a small group.

Why now? The numbers for COVID-19 in Fresno County continue to trend in the right direction. Praise God. It doesn’t mean we’re out of the woods yet. Lives are very much still in danger. But Level 3 ministry allows us to advance our ministries while also helping quell the spread of this insidious virus.

You can find more details about Level 3 on our website.

For now, our plan is to continue with our Sunday morning schedule as it is:

  • 8:00 a.m. Outdoor Worship (register here
  • 9:00 a.m. Zoom R.A.P. Bible Study
  • 10:00 a.m. Livestream Worship
  • Plus, children & youth ministry as scheduled for the afternoon.

Finally, as we step into this next level of ministry together, may we be people who live with grateful availability to the Lord. Like Isaiah, who experienced God’s profound presence and grace, said, “Here am I, send me.” May our prayer today be the same. Lord, send us out to be Gospel proclaimers today in word and deed.

Blessings,

Pastor Jeremy
