By Rhonda Payne & Emily Bernal

In February, we asked the congregation to Love on the Pink House and many of you purchased great household items from our Target registry. Here is Rhonda expressing their gratitude:

WE HAVE A MATCHING SET OF UTENSILS and a lot more awesome things! Words cannot begin to express how thankful we are for the generous donations. Having matching utensils and glasses has elevated the quality of life at the Pink House! The best part about it is that there were so many more things that were purchased for the Pink House that have made this house feel like a home. We are eternally grateful for the contributions that you have made in making this place better, and we are sure that the Pink House Interns in years to come will also be thankful for your generosity. We have LOVED using all the things we have received. From the bottom of our hearts, we say, THANK YOU!

Emily Bernal reflects on a way that her community service through the Pink House program has been encouraging or challenging:

A focus of the Pink House is immersing ourselves in the community and truly becoming a part of downtown Fresno. Recently, I have begun volunteering at Youth For Christ’s 701 United Program. Every Thursday evening, I am there alongside teens while we support one another in a fit lifestyle, and end the night on a unifying message about God. The first time I joined the group, I was given an opportunity to share my story and how I have gotten to where I am today. I was very nervous to jump into something so personal so quickly, but I definitely feel like it helped break the ice and open myself up to the team there. It has been fun to walk to 701 and see faces that are becoming familiar. Walking back to the Pink House during sunset has been a great reflection period, plus a good cool down for my usually aching muscles! As 701 looks forward to hosting events for the youth in the community, and as we continually pray for the teens there, I’m excited to see where helping out here takes me.
