Rooted High School Ministry

WELCOME to ROOTED - Where high school students experience loving community and grow deeply rooted in a relationship with Jesus, in order to bear Gospel fruitfulness for a lifetime.

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7

Our Philosophy

Rooted youth group welcomes you to join us at any event or activity! Our team exists to come alongside high schoolers and provide a safe space for their development in a positive community. We focus on building a fun and safe community in which to dive into Bible Study and its practical application to our lives (including diving into the hard stuff!), service and love for others, and moving our whole lives towards alignment with the heart of God. Our prayer is for every student to feel God’s love and find a place to belong at Rooted!

Our H-3 discipleship strategy consistently asks students to apply biblical teaching to their whole life.

Head- what truth did I discover?
Heart- what attitude needs adjustment?
Hands- what action will I take?

Parent Information

Equipping and supporting High School parents is important to us. We know that parents are the primary influence on their youth and we are here to partner with you! Monthly newsletters are sent out to encourage parents, and inform them of upcoming events and activities.

We invite you to tangibly support our ministry (food/host/pray/drive) once a semester for a more effective ministry!

Gathering Times -

In person gatherings are canceled for the time being, but we are not letting the COVID-19 virus stop us from fellowshiping and learning together. Sunday Mornings

D-groups are still meeting, but they are in a format and at a specific time that each group decides is best. Therefore, Juliza & Emily, Denise, Bre & Bekah, Wendi and Alisa, Scott & JR, Kollin & John Verwey, Nate & JR will specifically reach out to each of your teens to make sure they are invited to their D-group meeting. If you are new with us or do not know your teens D-group, email Meagan and she will be happy to connect you.

Rooted D-Groups (Discipleship Group) are a small group of 8-10 students that meets weekly on Sunday morning during Ed Hour (9:40-10:45am). Every student who visits or attends our ministry are placed in an (inter-class, same gender) D-group, led by a Youth leader. These groups are designed for students to have deeper relationships within the youth group, and cultivate a space that invites belonging, sharing, prayer, accountability and deeper relationship with God. The goal is to create a passion for Jesus in the students beyond casual participation and invite them to actively share Christ’s love and redemption with others. We hope to equip them with the tools to succeed and grow into rooted Christ followers.

Sunday Evenings

Youth Group is officially reformatted!

7-7:45pm Meagan & JR will begin live streaming on Instagram (rooted_firstpres) for the "lesson" time with the whole group (note: we understand not all students have a phone or social media so we are hoping that parents will allow their teen to use the parents/siblings phone for an hour on Sunday nights to make this possible for as many teens as we can)

7:45pm-8:30pm Meagan will be hosting a Zoom meeting and split students into small groups for discussion, check-ins, and prayer (Zoom is best  on a computer with a camera, but you can do it on your phone).

Rooted Youth Group meets every Sunday night from 6:30-8:30pm in “The Underground” at FPC. Our theme of “Rooted” will carry over into specific topics integrated into our “H-3 Strategy.” Moving from head to heart to hands, we cover topics that address: apologetics, sexuality and relationships, decision-making, the life and teachings of Jesus, mental health, leadership, evangelism, culture, purpose and identity. We connect through games, laughter, snacks, celebrating birthdays, worship and singing, Bible Study and discussion. Our prayer is that every student leaves encouraged, oriented towards Jesus and feeling a deep sense of belonging in Christ.
