Happy Thursday FPC Fresno,
Summertime is here! Although, with these breezy cool mornings, I am not entirely convinced we are in mid-June. Did you know this will be my 13th summer participating with the First Pres community? I came all the way from Ohio in the summer of 2010 to serve youth at FPC. God used that season to humble, mold and build me more into the person He was calling me to be. A big part of that summer experience was engaging in this incredible community. Y'all know how to host people well and make them feel welcomed and seen. The FPC community loves God and loves people. It was an incredible summer filled with deep friendships and even deeper experiences with Jesus.
Well, here we are again in that season of onboarding four lovely young people to work alongside our Children & Youth volunteers this summer. Let me introduce you to our 2023 Summer Staff: Jordan Greynolds, Brady Crow, Maddie Caroff, and Alli Hartsell.
- Jordan is from Barberton, OH. (OH—IO…is a fun call and response we midwesterns enjoy, try it out sometime and see how Jordan responds.) He enjoys playing and watching basketball, running, and listening to music. Jordan is looking forward to getting to know the high schoolers even more. He is excited to have fun and learn alongside students this summer.
- Brady is a native Fresnan. He attends Fresno Pacific University and plays baseball as a grad student. He loves to travel and spend time with his family and their new pup. Brady is looking forward to summer camp with the middle schoolers. He always loves the energy that students have and all of the fun activities they get to enjoy together.
- Maddie is from Indiana, Pennsylvania and currently attends Slippery Rock University. She loves being outside any chance she gets, which works really well for this community of outdoor adventurers. Much like me, she really enjoys hiking, backpacking, kayaking and rock climbing! Maddie is stoked to be working with the elementary students and joining us this summer.
- Alli grew up at FPC and graduated from Sanger High School. She currently attends San Diego State University. She is a huge arts and crafts person and enjoys spending her free time drawing, painting, crocheting and more! A fun fact about her is that she has traveled to 43 states! She is most excited about getting to teach children about all of the different exciting Bible stories.
Geraud Brumfield & Aaron Meyer are adding a CCO summer staffer, Brandon, and you may see a few more young people invited into intentional discipleship and leadership development this summer.
My hope is that, once again, you will welcome this new group of Summer Staff with open arms, full hearts, and joyful spirits. May the hospitality we experience in Jesus overflow from you. We encourage you to invite them over for dinner or to your favorite local spot, ask them to join your family in fun activities, and embrace them into this beautiful FPC family. As God continues to draw us in closer to Him, may you experience encouragement and new life by doing life and ministry alongside the Summer Staff. Let’s continue to love God, love people, make disciples and pursue Shalom as we see God’s Kingdom come to Fresno as it is in Heaven.
