One of the activities for week 1 of the Saturate Field Guide is an invitation to your own Psalm. Since I'm working a bit ahead, I shared mine at the close of our launch Session September 14. It ended up being kind of a testimonial Psalm. Sharing it here in hopes that some of you will also share yours!

My Psalm of September 2016

Father God, Maker of Heaven and Earth – Your ways are higher than my ways, Your thoughts higher than mine and yet you are very near. You are near and you are revealing your ways, revealing your thoughts. You have lavishly and lovingly made a way for me in Christ know you and to draw nearer to you.

You have forgiven me for the wasted years when I thought I could do life my way, myself, in my strength. I listened to the voices around me and said, “I’ll call you when I need you, Lord.” I lived in ignorance of how deeply I needed you and called out only in the toughest of times.

You offered life, abundant life. You offered an intimate relationship and I settled for a casual acquaintance, for a life-guard instead of the author of life. I kept you at arm’s length, not knowing how good it would be to lean into your everlasting arms.

Thank you for opening the eyes of my heart to just how great and constant my need for you really is. I need you, Oh, I need you. Every hour, I need you. Oh God, how I need you.

Thank you for opening the eyes of my heart to the hope to which you’ve called me. For showing me again and again just how wide & high & long & deep your love is and that life your way is better, so much better.

Thank you for the places I might not have gone except I was following you. For the people I have encountered along the way. Thank you for the fellow followers, those with whom I get to journey, brothers and sisters, near and around the world.

For all you’ve done in me, I give you thanks. For all you are doing & will do in me, I give you thanks. You have promised to finish the work you began in me. As you are working, Lord, make me faithful: give me the insight, courage and will to let you also do those things through me. I am blessed, make me a blessing.
