In our Awana clubs on Wednesday nights leaders and children gather around tables, in groups, to play games, pray for each other, recite God’s word that has been memorized and be challenged to live each day as a follower of Jesus. There are many “Stones of Remembrance” that occur each week that help us know God is at work. Here are just a three “Stones” that have been erected recently.

An early elementary boy had a hard time memorizing his verse of John 3:16. The leader worked with him during the small group time to help him memorize the verse as well as understand the meaning. It was hard, but he tried. The following week, he ran into Awana to find the leader and with gusto said “God loved world, sent son have everlasting life.”

Another family is fostering a little boy who is having his first introduction to Awana. At first he didn’t want to come. He did come and liked it once he was there, but he still struggled with the newness each week.  With the love of his foster family and the Awana leaders he now looks forward to coming each week. He is learning the weekly verses, participating throughout the evening and the foster mom said that it is making a difference in his behavior at home.

Two weeks ago in Cubbies, our 4-5 year old Awana Club, we were studying the story of Elijah, of how he prayed and God answered by setting the altar on fire.  We talked about how the worshippers of Baal prayed and prayed, but nothing happened. They danced and prayed, screamed and prayed but still nothing happened. But in contrast, Elijah just quietly asked and BOOM! It happened just that fast! So then we, in our club, prayed quietly and asked God for rain.  The next day it rained and one of the Cubbies remembered that we had prayed and he knew God had answered.

Stones of Remembrance are being erected all around us. Do you have some to share so we can celebrate with you, too?
