Kingdom Kids Children’s Ministry

De’Jshon Maxwell goes by DJ and is from Fresno. He is a student athlete at Fresno Pacific University. He enjoys working out, playing video games, and writing poems/spoken word in his free time. DJ is looking forward to being intentional in taking steps towards bettering his relationship with God and serving this summer. A fun fact is he knows just a tiny bit of Japanese!

Emily Bernal is from Fresno, born and raised. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies and listening to music. She also loves dancing and painting, even if she is not the best at it! This summer she looks forward to building friendships with those in her community, and helping to create a fun and welcoming environment. Although Emily has been volunteering as a D-group leader for Rooted, she cannot wait to see new faces and get creative with how this summer looks. A fun fact about her is that she is a student at Fresno State where she is studying to become an elementary teacher. Emily is really looking forward to getting her bachelor’s degree next year. She is super excited to see what this summer brings!

Rooted High School Ministry

Sophia Steele is feeling blessed and excited to say that she is back for another FPC summer, but this time with the high schoolers! She has finished her junior year at William Jessup University. So-chie, as she is affectionately called by the students, couldn’t pass up spending her last summer internship with the church that forever holds her heart. FPC has been essential in raising her in Christ. She loves all things that have to do with food, the beach, plants, coffee, and people. Sophia is so pumped to get to know our youth even more over the next couple months. She knows we’re gonna make so many fun memories and dive deeper with Jesus no matter the platform this weird season brings!

Our Ministry Assistant JR Hancock is partnering with Sophia this summer in loving on High School students. JR just finished participating in the Pink House ten month urban ministry program. He loves movies, video games, cycling, hiking, and going to locally owned coffee shops. JR has been working for FPC for the past six months and is very excited to work through his first summer on staff for Rooted! He knows that this summer will be a blast and can't wait to help foster.
